Blogs become journals
I'm sure a lot of "old skool" bloggers (circa 1998) are gnashing their teeth over the fact that blogs are increasingly viewed as little more than online confessionals. There used to be a clear-cut difference between a journal and a blog, but not so much anymore, apparently. Not in the mass media, anyway.

Interesting timing - note mike's post yesterday on narrative therapy...

Also, given our discussion today, I think its frustrating how definitions are framed by media.. in any sense really. Reading about yourself as a teenager in a newspaper is a disturbing feeling... as is being told how i 'feel' as a gamer, as a woman or any other categorical box - as defined by the media machine ...
I think of barbie .. i have always been told (in my adult years) how she is evil - has caused eating disorders and a long running plastic surgery trend .. but i never felt that way .. and barbie didnt tell me any of those things herself when i was a child chopping her hair off and making her dresses out of face cloths and elastics ... those are social constructs perpetrated by a larger media discourse (perhaps attached to your work on fear and risk ..)
Anyways - i will stick with the definitional line between journals, therapy, blogging and writting the 'story of my life' for all to read - that i have in my head thank you very much Washington Post =)
